    1309 - Seniors Get up & Go

1309-62 Our day trip begins with a self-guided tour of Graue Mill and Museum in Oak Brook. Graue Mill is an operating waterwheel grist mill and homestead and is dedicated to maintaining a bridge between past and present generations in the belief that understanding our history is vital to our future. The Museum provides living history presentations, as well as, artifacts which illustrate the way of life of area residents between 1850 and 1890. Today, Graue Mill is the only operating waterwheel grist mill in the Chicago area. We will view the “Underground Railroad” exhibit and the importance of Graue Mill in assisting fugitive slaves to escape to freedom. After our tour of the Mill we will stop for lunch at a nearby restaurant, York Tavern. *This trip requires a lot of walking and a full flight of stairs. Fee includes transportation and admission to the museum; lunch on your own.
